Straight stairlift vs curved stairlift?

Not sure if you need a straight or curved stairlift? It all depends on the layout of your home and which staircase you would like a stairlift installed on.

If your home has a staircase that goes up in a straight line, a straight stair lift is the option for you. However, if you need help climbing curved staircases that go around corners, bends, and landings, then you will need a curved stair lift.

Handicare provides models for both options, and our experts can advise exactly what you will need during a home visit.

The stairlift installation process

The Handicare experts make installation of your straight stairlift quick and easy. Once you have had your free home assessment and ordered a stairlift model, your stairlift could be with your local Handicare partner as soon as the next day.

Once a delivery date is available, a convenient time will be arranged for us to come along and fit your new stairlift.

The installation itself should only take a few hours, and the professional technician will explain how to use, clean, and maintain your stairlift before leaving.

Customisation options for your straight stairlift

There are numerous customisation options for your chosen straight stair lift, which we will be happy to discuss with you. The customisation options can include:

  • A powered hinge to prevent the stairlift track from obscuring a doorway.
  • A choice of seat upholstery colours.
  • Powered swivel seat and folding footrest.
  • Perch seat for those who find sitting positions uncomfortable.
  • Body harness for extra support.
  • Slide track that automatically moves the track clear of obstacles while the stairlift moves into a parked position.

Straight stairlift prices

The price of a straight stairlift will vary depending on the model you choose and your home’s unique dimensions. We can give you an accurate stairlift cost for your chosen model and installation once you have had your free home assessment.

Warranty and support for your straight stairlift

To provide you with complete peace of mind when purchasing a straight stair lift, Handicare covers every model with a comprehensive manufacturer’s warranty.

Some of our local Handicare partners will offer the option to extend your cover at the point of purchase or when your manufacturer’s warranty has expired if the stairlift receives regular services.

We recommend that your stairlift is serviced by an approved Handicare engineer at least once a year.
