Handicare saves the day by fixing platform lift for children’s centre

Handicare helped to save the day when they helped to fix a platform lift in the clubhouse of Pwllheli Sailing Club in Wales.

The sailing club were being helped by the popular TV show 'Prosiect Pum Mil' (£5k Project) for S4C, the Welsh TV channel, who were renovating their clubhouse into a state-of-the-art space for children with disabilities to spend time at during the weekends.

The crew behind the Prosiect Pum Mil TV show had major plans to transform the existing clubhouse, so that it would include three playrooms that children of all ages and all disabilities could use. However, this could only go ahead if their old Garaventa Lift platform wheelchair lift was in full working order.

The lift had originally been installed in 1997, and it was no longer in working order and needed to be serviced. This is where Handicare came into the picture, and thanks to our sister company Garaventa Lift through their ‘Sell Serve Support’ project, the Handicare team were fully trained to work on Garaventa Lift systems.

Our UK Technical Support Manager, George Court, travelled from our headquarters in Kingswinford to North Wales, and he was able to get the lift up and running again.

Once the platform wheelchair lift was working again, Handicare recommended that it be serviced regularly by a member of its trusted network of Trade Partners to ensure it stays in good working order for years to come.
