Handicare is Supporting the Live Longer Better Revolution!

Handicare’s mission is to make everyday life easier. For us, this means helping people to stay independent in their own homes and love later life.

That’s why we’ve agreed a two-year sponsorship of Living Longer Better, an online course to help older people and healthcare professionals promote independence in later life and reduce the period towards the end of life where we’re reliant on social care.

The course is founded by Sir Muir Gray, a senior consultant in the NHS and author of ‘Sod 70!’, a manifesto for a happier, healthier later life. Available through the online education platform Learning with Experts, the course promotes fitness, disease prevention, and emotional wellbeing. Above all, it aims to transform society’s attitudes towards the ageing process.

A stairlift doesn’t have to signal the end of an active life but can be seen as a renaissance – a new phase of life free from the constant worry of coping with the stairs.

To tell you more about Living Longer Better and what it means to us, here’s Sir Muir Gray and Clare Brophy, VP Commercial of Handicare Accessibility, discussing why this project is so close to our hearts.

About the sponsorship

Handicare is sponsoring 1,800 licences for the Living Longer Better course from Learning with Experts. These licences will be distributed through Active Partnerships around the UK. This network of local organisations uses the power of physical activity to transform lives in their communities. Active Partnerships will promote these subsidised licences to healthcare practitioners in their networks, to spread the message of Living Longer Better to as many people as possible.

Stay active

As we get older, we need to be doing more - not less! Now that you’ve overcome the obstacle of the stairs in your home, we’d like to encourage you to think about how you can make the most of your renewed mobility. Why not try these simple exercises for healthy joints, including sitting exercises that can have a real impact on your strength from the comfort of your chair.

In this era of active ageing, resistance band exercises for seniors have gained recognition as an accessible, effective, and enjoyable fitness option. They empower older adults to take control of their health, improve strength and mobility, and maintain an active and independent lifestyle. Visit the Wise Fitness Academy and the Live Strong websites to learn more about these exercises and how they can positively impact your overall joint health.
