History in (stair-)lifts
Handicare has been providing lifting solutions since 1886. Handicare manufactured their first stairlift in Europe in 1961, 55 years later Handicare is now a major worldwide brand. Supported by a first class network of over 1300 partner companies and dealers.

- Clean energy purchase contracts support the use of green energy in our Netherlands’ factory
- Low energy equipment is mandated at all our sites
- Solar panels are installed at 1/3 of our factories
- Sustainable use and recycling of chemicals on site is promoted
- Unused paint is recycled at our Netherlands’ factory
- Unnecessary emissions associated with material transportation, installation and recycling are avoided using robotic data in our production processes in the Netherlands
- Tube bending efficiencies have led to a 20% decrease in scrap metal in our UK factory
- Refurbished stairlift units account for 67% of sales in the Netherlands and 9% of total stairlift sales across Europe
- Our 4000 stairlift packs are reconditioned
- Our service routes are optimised to reduce fuel consumption and improve field service efficiency
By 2050, we have also committed to:
- Introduce electric vehicles for management (by the end of 2025)
- Use only green energy for heat and power
- Use green mobility solutions for our field and service engineers
- Partner only with logistics providers using green transport
